Pizza Face

evel pie

Since I was about 23, I started breaking out with serious acne. I have no idea what started it, but it still till this day, is something I battle with. Mike Castro at Trim Body MD (also mentioned in “NothingTasteAsGoodAsSkinnyFeels”) has just started giving me laser treatments and has prescribed me doxycicline to help it. It’s made a big improvement since then, but I have to keep up with it or I go right back to being a 14 year old boy with a pepperoni face. Washing your face properly and with the right cleanser is sooooo crucial. I used to use proactive, but I swear that stuff was like burning my face off, and acted almost like a drug for my skin. If I went one day without it, I would have a weird withdrawal breakout. On top of that it made all my pillow cases look like I spilled bleach on them. Anyway, next I tried a Clarisonic. One of my best friends swore by this thing, so I took the plunge, and I feel like it didn’t really do anything for me. It didn’t make my face worse, but it also didn’t make it better. It just felt glorious when I was washing my face. A little massage, if you will. Lol I eventually went to a dermatologist to be put on accutane. YOU GUYS!! This shit is so intense. Theres like a book you have to read and sign off on. Then you have to have your regular doctor sign off on it after they have prescribed you birth control. Then you have to come back every month to have blood work done and be tested to make sure you’re not pregnant, because it can cause serious deformities in your baby if you get pregnant while on it. I decided this was a bit too much for me. Like what? No thanks. So he prescribed me spironolactone and epiduo, and it helped a little but then I feel like it just stopped. Epiduo also made me have the same burning situation as proactive. I swear I was like ready to just commit a crime and just chop someone else’s face off and wear it as my own! I'm totally kidding, but clearly the thought crossed my mind.

I asked one of my friends who has amazing skin what she uses, and she said cetaphil. So I got the gentle cleanser from walgreens, and I love it! (It looks like cum a little, but whateva) That mixed with the doxycicline, has helped me immensely. A couple weeks ago I did my first limelight treatment (I think thats what its called) at Trim Body MD to even out my skin and get rid of sun damage as well as the laser genesis to kill the bacteria thats deep and my cleanser won’t get. I already feel like my skin is smoother to the touch and I’m sriously anxiously awaiting the visual results. I'll keep you guys posted.

Till then… pizza face signing off.

Ciao

I was put on Accutane back in 1986, I was 14 years old with horrible acne on my face, chest and back. The dermatologist said my skin was producing way too much oil (I still have oily skin but it has been a blessing with aging). In 1986 it was still being tested and I was a Guinea pig. I had my blood drawn weekly. I was on it probably a couple of months and my oils regulated and I cleared up, luckily before I had any major scaring, I have some scarring but it's very minor.

Obagi Clenziderm!!! Only have to use the 3 step program every once in a while, the cleanser works wonders by itself!

I was on Spring break in 2013 and you posted about a cleanser you were trying and I left a comment asking it it worked or not. I was SO pumped you replied. You weren’t sure since you just started using it, and I appreciated the honesty. My acne on my right cheek got to the point where I just cried looking at it. They were almost cystic like, and filled with blood not pus. And it was a “damned if you do damned if you don’t” situation because popping vs not popping both left scars. Hope you find something that works. It’s a bitch
